Facility & Certifications

The Cleveland Training Center is 32,000 square feet containing classroom and lab space. Classrooms include the CAD/Computer Classroom, HVAC Classroom, Main Classroom(s) (North & South), and Welding Classroom. Labs include the HVAC Lab, Sheet Metal Lab and Welding Lab.

Our Facility Certifications include: American Welding Society (AWS) “Accredited Test Facility”, this allows us to administer AWS Welding Certification examinations to our Journeymen & Apprentice members and provide AWS Certifications to those who successfully complete the Certification Examination. In addition we also hold a Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB) “Certificate of Accreditation” for our welding certification program. American Work Platform Training (AWPT) “Approved Training Center”, allowing us to present International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) operator training and provide the Powered Access Licensed-Registration (PAL) Card to those Journeymen & Apprentice members who successfully complete this training.

5-YEAR APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING PROGRAM

The Sheet Metal Workers’ Local #33, Cleveland District, covering Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula Counties & Vermilion District, covering Lorain, Erie, Huron, and Sandusky Counties will be accepting applications on the 2nd Monday of each month.

The following are REQUIRED at the time of application:

  • Applicants shall be at least 17 years of age (photo ID required).
  • Applicants must have received a High School Diploma or GED (proof required).
  • A $10 application fee will be charged. The fee is payable at the time of application. NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Applicants will be required to successfully complete a standardized test (independently administered), to qualify for an interview. The test is administered on a later date and the testing agency charges a $40 test fee.
