Who Ohio voters elect in November to lead the state for the next four years certainly has the potential to impact our industry and work outlook. Here’s the latest on the leading candidates:

Republican Gov. John Kasich has a 15-point lead over Democratic challenger Ed FitzGerald, according to the most recent poll released May 13 by Quinnipiac University.

Of the voters surveyed, 50 percent said they favor the governor, compared to 35 percent who support FitzGerald, the current Cuyahoga County Executive. The gap has widened since a similar poll in February that showed Kasich ahead by about five points.

The poll was conducted between May 7 and May 11. The university surveyed 1,174 registered voters by telephone – both land lines and cell phones. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.

Both candidates have launched ad campaigns with radio and television spots. Kasich continues to have a sizable campaign funding edge.
