Bobby Ina and Sheet Metal Workers help brighten holidays for sick children

For the second year in a row, Sheet Metal Workers Local 33 partnered with their political lobbyist to bring holiday cheer to children at Akron Children’s Hospital.

Bobby Ina, Sheet Metal Workers Local 33 and some of Ina’s other clients nearly doubled the number of toys and gift cards donated to Children’s Hospital. This year, they raised over $12,000, as compared to just over $6,000 raised in 2015.

According to Akron Children Hospital’s website, among the items purchased were Legos, Star Wars action figures, dolls, rattles, mobiles, sound and motion toys, Play-Doh, books, sensory balls, adult coloring books, coloring pencils, other toys, small Christmas trees and gift cards.

By taking advantage of a Toys R Us promotion, Ina was able to collect an additional $785 in gift cards for the hospital to use in December.

Akron Children’s child life specialists and therapists requested the items, which will be delivered to kids hospitalized at Christmas time.

Members of Local 33 donated $500 to this wonderful cause and hope it will brighten the holidays for children and families spending time this Christmas season at Akron Children’s Hospital.
